Center Meeting House

On Saturday, August 15, the Center Meeting House, in association with the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance, held a tour of its building along with eight historic lake and farm homes during its Newbury’s Treasures: Our Lake Lodges and Farmhouses event.  The Preview Gala Party was held on Friday, August 14 at the unique turn-of-the-century Stone Barn on Route 103A.  The elegant garden party included music by classical guitarist John Sanchez, an art exhibit and sale by noted Newbury artists, a tour of the stone barn, and delectable hors d’oeuvres and desserts. Proceeds from both these events will be used to continue our restoration of the Center Meeting House. Both events were well attended - congratulations to all who made it possible, including our 235 Gala attendees and nearly 600 Historic Home Tour visitors! 

Gloria Whelan, CMH Events Chair and her co-chair for this event, Diana Morris, said that over 200 people worked hard to make the eight homes available and to tend them during this exceptional tour.  Some have said that this was the largest event of its kind in Newbury's history.  Others noted that they had not been familiar with the fact that such outstanding historic homes were part of Newbury's history.  Shown above is one of the homes on the tour, an Adirondack style home named "Natleh."
