Center Meeting House

Bill Weiler, Chairman of the Architecture & Restoration Committee, announced that work on the Center Meeting House Bell Tower would commence on September 8, 2009, right after Labor Day.  Bill cautioned that we shouldn’t expect to see the tower swinging from a crane for a few weeks as restoration will take time to be completed or even become obvious.  While the work will get started almost immediately there won’t be a lot of the excitement that we all love so much for a while.  For those who loved seeing the building raised to install the new foundation or the new trusses being swung into place things will remain tame for a few weeks.

In the photo by Dennis Pavlicek at the right we can recall the excitement of projects past and how the building looked with its Bell Tower intact.

But keep an eye on this web site as we move into November.  Bill says that by December 1 all of the fun and excitement will be over and only a little clean-up activity will be occurring.  Keep your cameras on “ready” because these photo opportunities always seem to happen when you least expect them.

Bill’s announcement came at the regular CMH board of directors meeting held on September 2, 2009 at the Newbury town offices.  The full board did one last checkup on the fundraising situation and concluded that the time is right to proceed.
