Center Meeting House

Here it is - September 1, 2010!  We ARE in the home stretch!  We ARE almost finished!  After almost five and a half years it seems that restoration is a way of life that has no end.  It's even hard to remember the beginning and what we had to go through to get this project started.  But here it is in the home stretch!

In this picture, it is easy to see the difference between the undercoat or primer and the finish coat of paint.  Two coats of finish paint will see it to completion.  Pretty much all the scraping and replacing of clapboards is over.  I saw some calking going on yesterday, but primarily, the project is coming down to finish coats of paint.

The shutters and fans are close to completion and ready to be replaced on a clean buiding.  Front doors are being restored and will be ready to hang in the near future.

Inside, floor repairs have been made.  The famous apple green paint is ready to have touch up work.  Where the old stove and chimney was removed, woodwork had to be replaced.  Matching the paint color will be a challenge.

The old cushions present a real problem.  But in the scheme of things perhaps this is a mere detail.  But a costly one!

I for one feel the excitement building!
